Sure-fire solutions
If you're wondering "What can I get from this site?", just look at these points:
free programs and free demo software for hot rolling mills: try before you buy
effective roll pass design tools:
save time and effort
specific knowledge: increase your own value as a company asset
How is it possible to get all of this? The Linebow solutions.
If you want to
save expensive design time
increase mill operation efficiency
enhance rolled stock quality...
...just use LINEBOW software for strip, bar and wire rod mills. Linebow solutions should be your first choice – to benefit from years of experience
building software for long products.
LINEBOW has exactly the programs you need.Plus, LINEBOW programs have terrific training potential: "...an
entire generation of personnel is at the point of retirement, and years of undocumented experience are about to be lost." (W. Brandt Hathaway in AISE Steel Technology of 12/2000). *** A FREE COURSE *** By the way, we wrote a 30-lesson course in roll pass design. It's worth several hundred dollars: indeed, do you think that a specialized consultant would charge you less than one hour per lesson? But it can be yours for free. Just send us a request via e-mail. If you want to see the contents of the course, click HERE.)

A matter of trust?
You may wonder: "Who is this guy and why
should I trust him?". His name is Annibale Izzo. Born
in 1939, he worked 17 years for Fiat Iron & Steel Division
and 10 years for Olivetti. (But that's another story.

So the LINEBOW roll pass design software blends a long steelworks experience
with computer programming know-how, putting to work substantial mathematical skills. It
will definitely help you with your mill design operations and/or roll pass design calculations. Between you and me, you hardly need any training to use our programs: just sit down and answer the computer's questions.
 The LINEBOW programs...
The LINEBOW brand name comprises a full line of computer programs. You'll find them invaluable to design groove shapes and control rolling loads. They apply to
single passes, multiple-stand mills and wire rod blocks – as shown in the list below
(CBM stands for Continuous Bar Mill). For further details, download to your computer the free articles listed in THIS PAGE. When the rolling process starts from a billet, unless otherwise specified, it is a square billet.
ROMILDA (rolling of flat products)
EDGER (edge rolling of flat products)
SINPASS (single-pass design in bar rolling)
TWOPASS (dual-pass design in bar rolling)
2FILE (finishing sequences for squares, output to disk)
2FINS (finishing sequences for squares, output to screen)
DESFILE (CBM, from billet, with 2+2xN stands)
BYFILE (CBM, from square, false round or round)
DESMILL (CBM, DESFILE with compact output)
BYMILL (CBM, BYFILE with compact output)
DESFIVE (CBM, like DESFILE, with 5+2xN stands)
BYBLOCK (CBM, full design of wire rod blocks)
2ROUND (CBM, 2 passes plus M oval-round sequences)
3ROUND (CBM, 3 passes plus M oval-round sequences)
ALLROUND (CBM, like 3ROUND, with assigned round diameters)
ROUNDBY (ROUNDBY is to 2ROUND/3ROUND as BYFILE is to DESFILE/DESFIVE)
RDBILLET (CBM, round billet, M oval-round sequences)
TWORF (like TWOPASS, with the ORF feature)

...in seven national versions.
All these programs were tested, enhanced and debugged through the '90s in cooperation with
Herbert Rothe, a German authority in rolling mill technology. Of course, Mr. Rothe is also the author of the German version of the LINEBOW programs, which were originally written in
English, French and Italian. A Portuguese version of the LINEBOW programs was produced in 1998 thanks to the precious
cooperation of Antonio Augusto Gorni, a
Brazilian materials engineer and an expert in mathematical
modeling of steelmaking processes. At the time, Mr. Gorni had published
more than 70 technical papers and written a considerable
number of scientific software programs. In July 2000, work with Mexican engineers led to the
completion of a
Spanish version of the LINEBOW programs.
Beyond metric units, an
American version is available in Imperial units. Note that 2FILE and 2FINS are only available in English (2FINS is free!), both in metric and in Imperial units. The same availability regards our recently developed program, TWORF, working with the ORF feature (see main menu, top of this page).
LINEBOW programs are used today by some of the major Iron and Steel Companies worldwide.
